WingMan offers custom imagery acquisition through tailored Flight Planning and comprehensive consulting services/solutions, encompassing all stages of flight architecture. This includes the meticulous planning of flights to the production and QA/QC of orthomosaic tiles and other remote sensing or GIS-related products. Specializing in flight architecture, WingMan expertly plans, designs, and oversees all aspects of imagery acquisition and the processing of data captured by our large format 280MP RGBN Aerial Camera System. By collaborating with a network of partner aircraft and utilizing advanced software and equipment, WingMan delivers the highest accuracy in orthomosaic image tiles and digital terrain models (DTMs), often in tandem with LiDAR.
WingMan will utilize the AOI or Corridor centerline KML/SHP file provided by the client to design the flight architecture required for custom imagery acquisition. We employ iX Suite (Plan, Flight, Process), Global Mapper, and Google Earth software to develop detailed flight plans. Additionally, we coordinate with aircraft partners to obtain quotes for image acquisition, ensuring that clients receive precise project acquisition and service cost estimates for their orthomosaic tiles.
The flight architecture developed using iX Plan will be uploaded to the on-board mission software, iX Flight Pro. This process utilizes the MK5 controller along with the GSM4000 SOMAG mount on the aircraft to facilitate accurate custom imagery acquisition and ensure the collection of Raw (Level-0) imagery for creating orthomosaic tiles.
The mission is then loaded into IX Process, which facilitates the preprocessing of IIQ files into stitched, uncompressed tiled TIF formats for custom imagery acquisition in Ortho-ready (Level-1) imagery. These images can then be ingested into sophisticated photogrammetry software like Trimble's Inpho or SimActive's Correlator 3D for the generation of the final orthomosaic tiles, resulting in Orthorectified (Level-2) mosaic image tiles. By leveraging refined RTX exterior orientation (EO) processing via Applanix POSPAC software and integrating our highest accuracy Applanix IMU, we significantly minimize the need for ground control, enhancing our flight architecture.
The Flight Architect is responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of final edits, data compression, and the tiling of project information, including custom imagery acquisition and the creation of orthomosaic tiles. This is achieved using software such as Global Mapper and Google Earth.

This short video will show how to create a STRIP Mapping Flight Plan from a typical client AOI or Centerline kml/shp file
IIQ files contain basic metadata information and are not stitched. They can be utilized in advanced photogrammetry software, such as Correlator 3D, which supports custom imagery acquisition and can effectively work with flight architecture to create orthomosaic tiles.
Stitched and stacked RGB or RGBN TIFF files are essential for custom imagery acquisition, providing ortho-ready TIFF files with EXIF embedded along with a separate EO file. These files can be quickly loaded into photogrammetry software like Trimble's Inpho, making them ideal for creating orthomosaic tiles and optimizing flight architecture.
This is a final product tiled out to any area of interest (AOI), utilizing custom imagery acquisition, flight architecture, or compression techniques to create orthomosaic tiles.
