The PAS280 camera system is designed for portability and can be installed on a variety of aircraft worldwide, making it an excellent choice for aerial mapping projects. With three lenses (2 RGB and 1 NIR), the unit weighs less than 50 lbs, facilitating transport, especially when shipping large freight internationally can be costly. For those interested, PAS280 camera leasing options are available. When used in conjunction with a SOMAG GSM4000 mount and Applanix IMU AP610, the system offers remarkable operational versatility for photogrammetry services.

WingMan will utilize the AOI or Corridor centerline KML/SHP file provided by the client to design the flight plan required for aerial mapping and image acquisition. We employ iX Suite (Plan, Flight, Process), Global Mapper, and Google Earth software to develop detailed flight plans for our photogrammetry services. Additionally, we coordinate with aircraft partners to obtain quotes for PAS280 camera leasing for image acquisition, ensuring that clients receive precise project acquisition and service cost estimates.

The flight plan developed using iX Plan will be uploaded to the on-board mission software, iX Flight Pro. The mission is loaded into IX Process, which preprocesses IIQ files into stitched, uncompressed TIF formats, making them Ortho-ready (Level-1) imagery suitable for aerial mapping. These images are then ingested into advanced photogrammetry software like Trimble's Inpho or SimActive's Correlator 3D to generate the final Orthorectified (Level-2) mosaic image tiles. By applying refined exterior orientation (EO) processing through Applanix POSPAC software and utilizing our highest accuracy Applanix IMU, we significantly reduce the need for ground control, enhancing our photogrammetry services. STRIP Mapping

STRIP Mapping is a novel approach developed by WingMan for efficient corridor mapping applications. Utilizing the Phase One PAS280 camera sensor mounted in an along-flight-path orientation, this method acquires portrait-style imagery, leveraging its 20,000-pixel along-track width (14,000 across-track). The core innovation lies in the seamless integration of three critical data streams: imagery, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) data, and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) data. This integrated approach significantly enhances efficiency by reducing the need for multiple flight strips, thereby lowering overall mapping costs for utilities, pipelines, railways, and roads. A key finding is that the IMU-measured roll angle critically improves triangulation, a common challenge in single-image strip scenarios. Furthermore, this solution achieves superior color balance and remarkably reduces the number of images, seamlines, and orthorectification processing by 50%. STRIP Mapping presents a highly efficient, cost-effective, and technically advanced solution for high-precision corridor mapping, overcoming traditional limitations and streamlining post-processing workflows.
